Kim Carter Paterson
Kim is a shareholder of BB&T and a member of the firm’s Wills, Estates, Trusts, Elder Law, and Planned Giving; Real Estate, Land Use, and Environmental; and Municipal groups.
Kim works closely with her clients in developing, implementing, and administering estate plans that fit their unique individual needs. She advises executors, both individual and corporate trustees, throughout the estate or trust administration process. Kim practices in Orphans’ Court proceedings, such as fiduciary accountings and adjudications, spousal elections, termination of parental rights, adoptions, and guardianship appointments for incapacitated persons. She also works with families of disabled individuals to establish special needs trust to protect entitlement to public benefits, including Medicaid and SSI.
Kim is well-versed in Medicaid regulations and has a relationship with counsel and caseworkers for the Department of Public Welfare. She is certified to appear before the United States Board of Veterans Affairs to represent veterans and their spouses in claims for veterans’ pension benefits.
