Meet BB&T’s Women’s Section

BB&T’s women attorneys practice in diverse legal areas, collectively representing over 65 years of experience. Our firm has a history of creating and preserving relationships that foster a community of successful women.

Our women attorneys support and encourage the professional growth of one another through our firm’s mentor program, and by serving in leadership positions within our firm and our local area. We are committed to cultivating leadership among women in our community and providing opportunities for women professionals to connect with one another.

In 2010, the BB&T Women’s Section launched its professional women’s networking series. The Women’s Section plans to host educational events throughout the year allowing professional women to gather together in a relaxing atmosphere to learn more about each other. Our goal is for local professional women to develop lasting relationships.

On  May 10th, 2012, BB&T’s Women’s Section hosts “A Gathering in the Gallery” where guests will tour one of Lancaster City’s historic landmarks, The Lancaster Museum of Art, while connecting with other local professional women.

BB&T Women’s Section Supports American Girl Fashion Show Benefiting Hands-on House

BB&T Women’s Section continues to support the Hands-on House and will be sponsoring and volunteering at the American Girl Fashion Show to be held on November 19-20, 2011.  Theresa Mongiovi, a member of the Board of Directors for the Hands-on House, will serve as the show’s Backstage Director and Jill Laskowitz will serve as a Dresser Coordinator.  Susan Grosh, Kim Carter Paterson, Susan Peipher, Angela Sanders, Jill Laskowitz and Patricia Wanger will also volunteer as dressers at the event.  http://www.handsonhouse.org/news_fashion.asp

Susan E. Grosh is a member of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce’s Professional Women’s Forum Committee and has participated in the planning of this year’s Professional Women’s Forum being held at the Lancaster Eden Resort.

BB&T Women’s Section is serving as a Bronze Sponsor for the event, at which Susan E. Grosh and Kim Carter Paterson will present “When the Long Arm of the Law Comes Knocking on Your Door…Legal Issues Facing Employers Due to Employees’ Legal Matters.”

Blakinger, Byler & Thomas served as a sponsor for Junior Achievement’s Young Women’s Futures Symposium held at Elizabethtown College.  Angela H. Sanders and Jill M. Laskowitz participated in the event as speakers, facilitators and mentors.  This event provides an opportunity for students who are in the academic middle to explore career opportunities and learn key skills such as interviewing, budgeting, etc.

Theresa Mongiovi served as dressing coordinator and our other women attorneys volunteered as dressers for the shows. BB&T Women’s Section served as a Bronze Sponsor at the Professional Women’s Forum sponsored by the Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce. Theresa Mongiovi and Angela Sanders presented a seminar on the evolution of gender discrimination and sexual harassment.  All of the women attorneys attended various seminars and participated in the reception.
